Wall Street Turnover!

Wall St. is for US what Dalaal St. is for India or is it the other way round…
Wall Street is a street in lower Manhattan and is home to the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange). But symbolically it has also come to refer to a large number of big financial Institutions like Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers etc.
But how does it concern me?. Why should anybody bother about what happens on Wall Street. Well if you are interested in Equity markets and if you are interested in Money than you should be aware of what’s happening on the Wall Street.
All the financial markets through out the world are interconnected and take cues from each other. The US market has been seen to drive activities in the other bourses but that is not a causal relationship and we have seen other bourses go higher while the Wall Street ends lower.
The daily trading volume on the NYSE Listed stock exchange is about $73 Billion and on the NASDAQ OMX exchange is $86.7 Billion, while that on the Mumbai BSE Sensex is it is about $7 Billion (about INR 30,000 Crores) and $18 Billion on the NSE. The NYSE-Euronext is the world’s largest cash equities market place with an aggregate market cap of $30 Trillion and an average daily trading volume of $142.5 Billion.
Well this was an initiation into the world of Wall Street. But Wall Street is not just Equity Trading and there is a whole lot more to come…….
